A Jewish community inspired by Reconstructionist Judaism

What Is the Hineni House

Hineni House is built on a simple but demanding premise:

That human beings are addressed—by reality, by history, and by one another—and that life unfolds in the act of responding.

Jewish tradition preserves not only beliefs or rituals,
but an accumulated capacity to respond to the challenges and questions of life with clarity, responsibility, and judgment.

It is not a synagogue in the conventional sense.
It is a house of learning, conversation, and engagement.

What Happens at Hineni

  • Thoughtful learning grounded in Jewish texts and contemporary realities

  • Structured conversations that demand clarity, not opinion

  • Shabbat and holiday gatherings that combine reflection, discussion, and shared experience

  • A serious but open intellectual environment

The Hineni Project

Hineni House is part of the broader Hineni Project—
an intellectual and spiritual effort to renew Jewish life in the 21st century.

While the Hineni Project develops ideas,
Hineni House brings those ideas into lived experience.
